2024 KCRC Road Construction Projects Notice

KCRC has the following road construction projects scheduled for the Summer of 2024:
• 1.1 miles of HMA crushing and shaping, HMA paving, culvert replacements and culvert lining on Gratiot Lake Road from 3.9 miles south of US-41 to the Dead End. Contractor is expected to begin in late July/early August and should be completed in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. KCRC will be replacing multiple culverts from Gratiot Lake Drive to the Dead End in advance of the Contractor’s work. Temporary delays throughout the construction are to be anticipated with single lane traffic thru the work area. Project is being paid for with federal transportation and state “D” funds.

• 0.6 miles of HMA crushing and shaping, HMA paving and restoration in Ahmeek Location on North Street, Hospital Street, 2nd Street and 3rd Street. Contractor is expected to begin in late July/early August and should be completed in approximately 1 to 2 weeks. Temporary delays throughout the construction are to be anticipated with single lane traffic and/or partial short term closure with “local traffic only” thru the work area. Project is paid for with county road millage funds.

• Misc. drainage improvements and culverts in Mohawk. KCRC will be replacing culverts on multiple streets. Improvements are paid for with county road millage funds. Also, utility company will be replacing water services at multiple locations in Mohawk throughout the Summer. This work is being done in preparation for a proposed paving project in Mohawk on multiple streets in Summer of 2025. Partial road closures with detour or single lane traffic thru the work area are anticipated.
