Veterans Service Officer Opening - 20 hours per week,

The Keweenaw County Veterans Affairs Board is seeking applications for the position of a part-time Veterans Service officer. This position will be staffed at 20 hours per week. The maximum hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. This is a part time position and there are no health or insurance benefits included.

Applicant for this position needs to be computer literate, able to maintain accurate files with great attention to detail, and possess knowledge of budget software. Also needed are general office skills to operate an office on a daily basis. Primary duties will also include the operation, maintenance, and keeping of an office open to the public. Further duties will be directed by the Keweenaw County Veterans Affairs Board. Additional description of duties is available to applicants upon request.

Applicant must be an aggressive self starter and be able to work unsupervised variable hours as needed in making contacts with Veterans. Applicant will be responsible for assisting Veterans and dependents with filing claims, and applying for any available programs and benefits they may be eligible for.

The veterans Service Officer must pass a background check and must also attend and successfully complete the training required to become accredited and recognized by the Veterans Administration.

Military background and Veteran status is highly recommended and desired but not required.
